Turkish first-half consumption, output slump, exports partly offset

Turkish finished steel consumption fell -15.8% year-on-year in June to 2.3 million tonnes, while finished steel production was down -11% to 2.7mt, according to Turkish Steel Producers Association (TCUD) data monitored by Kallanish. Overall steel exports in June fell -11.5% to 1.4mt, while imports slumped -23.2% to 904,000t. In the first half of 2019 Turkish finished steel use thus dropped -32.3% on-year to 12.3mt.
