Turkey ramps up pig iron imports in 2022
Turkey imported more pig iron in 2022 than 2021, and the majority of it came from Russia, show Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) data.
In 2022, Turkish steelmakers received 1.36 million tonnes of pig iron under HS code header 7201, up 13% on-year. Two thirds of it came from Russia, as opposed to 45.6% in 2021.
