Tosyali Algerie continues to boost production and exports
Tosyali Algerie, the Algerian steelmaking arm of the Turkish Tosyali group, is continuing to boost production and exports, despite its recent labour problems, Kallanish learns from sources.
Through a local press conference, the group has confirmed production of crude steel was 2.2 million tonnes in 2018, while this year the output is expected to reach 3mt.
The boost in output will be supported by an increase of exports, as the group expects to be able to export some 500,000t of finished products each year from 2020, after having resolved its logistics problems. This year exports are being processed at a rate of some 70,000 tonnes/year, with rebar to the US being one of the main areas of focus.
Another export market of interest for the company is reported to be that of welded tubes for Romania and Belgium, Kallanish understands.
Labour tensions impacted production at Tosyali's Algerian plant in early April, but the situation now appears to be under control, sources suggest.
