Tokyo Steel restarts HRC production at Okayama
Japanese steelmaker Tokyo Steel has restarted hot-rolled steel production at its Okayama steel plant in Kurashiki City in west Japan on 9 December, after the plant suspended production for more than seven years, Kallanish notes.
The reason for the restart is to cope with the rebounded demand for electric furnace steel flats. The steelmaker spent about JPY 7.5 billion ($54.5 million) for the upgrade of old facilities.
