Tata to update Corby induction furnaces, reduce emissions

Tata Steel UK’s Corby works plans to install two new induction furnaces in October to reduce carbon dioxide emissions from one of its tube mills by at least 2,000 tonnes/year. The £5 million ($6.1m) investment will replace the existing furnaces, thereby reducing the need for pre-heating from the gas-fired furnaces and resulting in fewer associated emissions.
