Tariff reduction not seen resetting Turkey's US-bound exports
The reduction by the US of Section 232 tariff on Turkish steel to 25%, while a positive development, will not see Turkish exports to the US return to previous tonnages, according to the Turkish Steel Exporters’ Association (CIB).
Besides reducing the tariff on Turkish steel last Friday, the US altogether removed tariffs on steel imports from Canada and Mexico as the three nations agreed a trade deal to replace NAFTA (see Kallanish passim).
