Tangshan to add 20mt cold rolling capacity
Hebei province’s Tangshan Development and Reform Commission has detailed the city's major cold rolling projects in 2018. Four steelmakers plan to add a combined 20.15 million tonnes/year of cold rolling capacity in Tangshan in the coming years, Kallanish notes.
Tangshan Yanyang Cold Rolling Company plans to build a cold rolling base from 2019 to 2020. The steelmaker expects to have one 1,550mm and one 1,750mm cold rolling plant, each with two mills, and reach a cold strip capacity of 8.15m t/y. In addition, Hebei Donghai Special Steel started construction of its cold rolling project in March 2018, and expects to commission in 2020. It plans to build three cold rolling plants with 5m t/y of cold rolled product capacity.
Tangshan Ganglu Iron & Steel, meanwhile, previously announced it plans to commission its cold rolled steel plant with a design capacity of 2m t/y by the end of September (see Kallanish 20 June).
