Taiwan scrap market remains quiet in off-season
Taiwan's scrap market is seeing low activity as summer demand slows down, with local scrap prices falling and few import deals being concluded.
Major Taiwanese steel mill Feng Hsin Iron & Steel has cut its scrap and rebar offers by TWD 300/tonne ($9.27/t) this week. Its HMS 1 scrap purchase price is at TWD 10,500/t ($324/t), while the list price for #5 (5/8 inches or 15.875mm nominal diameter base) rebar was at TWD 19,100/t ($591) ex-works. …
