Strong demand supports higher US plate prices
Strong business conditions in the US market are supporting higher plate prices, Kallanish hears from market sources.
Mills have announced price increases of $50/short ton for December, and there are talks of another $40/st hike coming for January.
The weekly A36 plate price assessment maintained by Kallanish is held this week at $1,830-1,880/st, ex-works, domestic mill. Plate pricing has now surpassed the price of hot rolled coil, which has fallen to $1,785-1,835…
