SSAB lifts shipments on lower prices
SSAB expects to produce and sell higher volumes of steel in the first quarter, although it says it will not profit from the current rising spot market trend until the second quarter.
At 305,000 tonnes, shipments in the fourth quarter last year were considerably lower than in the corresponding quarter of 2021, which saw 350,000t. On account of low market demand, the group temporarily idled a blast furnace in that period (see Kallanish passim).
