Spanish first-half-year automotive production, exports grow
Spain saw automotive production and exports rise in the first half of this year, says local carmakers’ group Asociación Nacional de Fabricantes de Automóviles y Camiones (Anfac) in its June report monitored by Kallanish.
“Spanish automotive production and sales were mainly boosted by the consolidation of demand for new models during H1, after local manufacturers had adapted their production lines in recent months,” Anfac says.
Spanish vehicle production totalled 1,630,231 units in the six-month period, an increase of 4.2% on-year. In June alone output was 278,748 vehicles, up 7.1% on-year.
According to Anfac, automotive exports rose to France and Germany. Spain also increased its shipments of vehicles to Eastern Europe and North Africa, while exports to some other markets such as the UK, Italy and Turkey remained low, Anfac says, without giving details.
Spanish vehicle exports amounted to 1,320,643 units in H1, up 4.8% y-o-y. During June alone shipments abroad totalled 233,370 vehicles, a 12.8% y-o-y increase.
