South African steelmaking minerals December output falls on-month
South African production of steelmaking minerals, chrome ore, iron ore, manganese ore and nickel, fell in December 2023 compared to November. However, nickel and chrome ore output rose on-year, Kallanish observes.
Iron ore production in December was 4.49 million tonnes, down 18% on-year and 16.5% on November. January-December production was marginally down, 0.8%, on-year to 63.18mt.
