Some producers push up Italian wire rod prices
Some Italian wire rod producers are asking for a €20/tonne ($22) increase compared to November, mostly on increasing domestic scrap prices and higher energy costs.
Demand from distributors is average and buyers are refusing to pay the increases, but drawing mills’ order books are full. Some steelmakers are requesting €840/t ex-works for drawing-quality wire rod, market participants tell Kallanish.
