Russian steelmakers need decade to replace foreign equipment
Russian steelmakers are critically dependent on foreign equipment and, due to Western sanctions, will be forced to look for workarounds to purchase components or switch to lower-quality analogues, according to Russia’s new steel strategy to 2030.
The process of import substitution to replace the components completely with locally-made products may take at least ten years, states the strategy document prepared by the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
