Russian stainless steel consumption increases amid imports
Russia’s real consumption of stainless steel increased in 2023, according to national special steel association USSA.
It amounted to 661,900 tonnes, up by 27.3% on-year, Kallanish notes.
Consumption of cold rolled flat steel increased by 32.7%, hot rolled flat steel was up 7.3%, long products by 39%, seamless pipe by 71.5.8%, welded pipe by 3.5% and wire by 62.6%.
However, consumption of primary billet fell 27%.
