Russian court freezes Hyundai funds amid debt dispute
Russia’s Arbitration Court of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region has issued a ruling to freeze RUB 157 million ($2.5m) belonging to the Russian subsidiary of Hyundai – Hyundai Engineering Rus.
This amounts to the debt owed by Hyundai under the contract for the construction of an engine plant in St. Petersburg. The court says that if the South Korean automaker leaves Russia, the debt may not be paid.
