Russia sees stainless steel output growth
The output of stainless steel rolled products in Russia rose in the first eight months of 2016 compared to the same period in 2015, Kallanish learns from data provided by the country’s stainless steel development association, Spetsstal.
Russia’s eight-month stainless product output increased by 6.7% on-year to 49,816 tonnes.
The leading Russian producer of stainless steel products is VMK Red October, which accounted for 51.1% of the eight-month production. The other main producers in the period were Zlatoust Metallurgical Plant with a 14.4% share, Izhstal with 12.1%, Elektrostal with 11.3%, Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant with 8.3%, Ashinskii Metallurgical Plant with 2% and Urals Stampings Plant with 0.8%.
Stainless production in June-August alone was 20,420t, an increase of 18.4% year-on-year, the association says. Flat-rolled output in the period grew by 29.2% to 7,522t, while long products production rose by12.9% to 12,903t.
The main increases in stainless steel rolled products output in this period were reported by VMK Red October, Chelyabinsk, Izhstal and Asha.
Stainless took a dip in 2015, thats why the perceived recovery in % terms seems like growth...
