Stronger US scrap pricing fails to boost rebar
Rebar spot pricing in US markets has failed to ride the coattails of rising ferrous scrap prices thus far, Kallanish hears from market participants.
Domestic scrap trade points to increases of $20-30/gt in settlements of various grades this month (see Kallanish 7 November). Because of a pessimistic construction outlook and persistent competition from imported steel, according to some sources, the greater input costs have not translated to higher rebar pricing.
