Rio Tinto's Western Range contracts pass AUD 1 billion
Global miner Rio Tinto has so far awarded contracts totalling AUD 1 billion ($670m) as construction progresses at its Western Range iron ore mine in the Pilbara, a joint venture between the firm (54%) and China Baowu Steel (46%), Kallanish notes.
Construction at Western Range, which will help sustain production from Rio Tinto’s existing Paraburdoo iron ore mining hub, commenced in the first quarter this year.
