RINL completes melting capacity increase
Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL) has completed the modernisation of oxygen converter B, thus concluding the revamp of Steel Melt Shop (SMS) no.1 at an overall cost of INR 400 crores ($61.7 million).
The work has increased melting capacity at SMS-1 to 3.5 million tonnes/year from 3m t/y. Converter C, recommissioned last October post-revamp, has achieved a record 4,500 heats life, according to RINL.
