Rainy season pauses Taiwan scrap market
Taiwan's scrap steel market showed little movement this week as the arrival of the rainy season caused market demand to plummet.
Major Taiwanese steel mill Feng Hsin Iron & Steel has maintained its scrap and rebar offers this week. Its HMS 1 scrap purchase price is at TWD 10,800/t ($334/t), while the list price for #5 (5/8 inches or 15.875mm nominal diameter base) rebar was at TWD 19,400/t ($600) ex-works.
