Posco plans EAF construction at Gwangyang plant
South Korean steelmaker Posco Steel plans to install an electric arc furnace with capacity of 2.5 million tonnes/year at its Gwangyang plant.
The project is expected to start construction in January 2024 and be officially put into operation in 2026, Kallanish notes. Posco hopes to install continuously-feeding and preheating EAFs with a maximum volume of 300-tonnes, the steelmaker noted last year.
