Poland hikes first-quarter Ukrainian billet, Italian flats imports
Poland’s overall HS chapter 72 product imports were down 9% on-year in the first quarter to 3.1 million tonnes, but scrap and semi-finished steel imports rose markedly, despite reduced steel demand and production.
Poland imported 114,154 tonnes of HS code 720711 billet in Q1, up 52% on-year. Supply from Ukraine soared 563% to 101,711t, according to Poland’s Central Statistical Office (GUS) data monitored by Kallanish.
