Pakistan’s May scrap and steel imports plummet severely
Delays in opening letters of credit (LC), slowed steel demand, and rising inflation have resulted in a dramatic fall in Pakistani scrap and steel imports.
Pakistan’s scrap imports plunged 37.98% on-year to 126,190 tonnes in May against 203,470t imported a year earlier, according to Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) data seen by Kallanish.
Imports, however, grew 45.08% on-month versus 86,980t imported in April.
