Pakistan imported scrap offers plunge amid global slowdown
The global fall in the imported scrap offers coupled with depreciating Rupees against dollars has plunged the scrap offers in Pakistan. This week, Punjab-based mills have aggressively booked imported materials amid low inventories, Kallanish notes.
Offers for the UK- and EU- shredded scrap plummeted further by $15-20/tonne on-week to $425-435/t cfr Port Qasim. Earlier this week, Punjab-based mills booked around 2,000-3,000 tonnes at $430-435/t cfr Port Qasim.
