Oil rigs boost North American rig count
The latest Baker Hughes data reveals the number of rigs slated for North American oil production continues to rise, propping up the overall rig count even as the count of gas rigs declines.
During the week ending 15 October, the tally of US oil rigs increased by 12 to 445 while gas rigs declined by 1 to 98. Total US rigs in operation reached 543 for the week, a significant increase over the same week in 2020 when 282 rigs were operating.
