Nucor closes on Independence Tube
US steelmaker Nucor has completed its $435 million acquisition of Independence Tube.
Independence is comprised of four rolling mills in Illinois and Alabama with a combined output of 600,000 short tons of hollow structural sections for the construction and agricultural markets, Kallanish notes. Nucor signalled its intention to buy the company in mid-September.
"We are pleased to welcome the 335 teammates at Independence Tube to the Nucor family," says ceo John Ferriola. "This is a great acquisition for Nucor, giving us another growth platform and enhancing our position as the most comprehensive provider of steel solutions to the construction and infrastructure markets."
