NMDC sees sales slump, to demerge steel plant
State-owned NMDC’s board has agreed in principle to demerge the NMDC Iron & Steel Plant in Nagarnar, Chhattisgarh.
The Indian iron ore miner has given no reasoning for the move. Some sources in India report it could be a precursor to divesting the prospective 3 million tonnes/year capacity steel mill whose commissioning has been delayed by the Covid-19 pandemic.
