Middle East’s March, first-quarter steel production rises
Middle Eastern countries' combined March crude steel output rose 15.2% on February and 4% on-year to 4.82 million tonnes. The ten countries' combined output rose 12.1% on-year to 13.69mt in the first quarter, led by Iran, followed by Saudi Arabia and Oman, Kallanish notes.
Iran produced 2.77mt crude steel in March, soaring 23.9% on-month and up 2% on-year, taking Q1 output up 16.3% or 1.16mt to 7.61mt, according to the latest worldsteel data.
