Mid-East building 25mt of new steelmaking capacity: OECD
More than 25 million tonnes/year of new steelmaking capacity is planned in the Middle East in 2019-2021, more than any other region in the world apart from Asia, according to the OECD’s latest steelmaking capacity report. This would take the region’s capacity up to 92.4m t/y.
Middle East steelmaking capacity has increased rapidly from 27.8m t/y in 2008 to 67.3m t/y in 2018.
Iran is likely to be the largest contributor to the future steelmaking cap…
