Liberty Galati readies blast furnace maintenance
Liberty Galati will start a RON 18.3 million ($3.9m) care and maintenance programme for blast furnace no.5 this week. The work will run until the beginning of next year and improve the unit’s stability and energy usage. It is being carried out now as steel demand is anyway impacted across Europe by macro-economic issues, meaning customer deliveries will be unaffected, Liberty Steel says.
