Liaoning completes 6m t/y steel capacity elimination goal
Liaoning has completed its 2016 steel capacity elimination goals by cutting 6.02 million tonnes/year of crude steel and 600,000 t/y of iron capacity, according to the local provincial Development and Reform Commission (DRC).
Official data from the National Bureau of Statistics shows in 2015 Liaoning produced 60.71 million tonnes of crude steel, and over January to October it produced 49.84mt, a decrease of -4.3% year-on-year, Kallanish notes.
Liaoning DRC has published eliminated capacity lists (see tables below), and has also closed another eleven 22-t and five 30-t induction furnaces at sixteen steelmakers.
