LatAm steel trade deficit narrows in 2022: Alacero
Latin America saw its steel trade deficit widen 1.8% month-on-month in December 2022 to 1.11 million tonnes. However, this narrowed 4% year-on-year, according to regional steel producers' association Alacero. In full-year 2022, the regional finished steel trade deficit nevertheless narrowed 27.3% on-year to 14.46mt, Kallanish notes.
Brazil was the only country last year with a trade surplus of finished steel, at 965,900t. The biggest deficit was seen in Mexico…
