Korean steel imports rebound in February
South Korea imported 1.78 million tonnes of steel products in February 2016, 10.9% more than a year earlier. February 2015 was not a strong month for imports, however, and volumes over the year are likely to be a little down on 2015, Kallanish notes.
Imports from China were the key driver, increasing 15.2% to 1.04mt – this comprised 58.6% of the total. Imports from Japan, meanwhile, were down -3% to 552,000t.
