Konsorcjum Stali tops Polish distributors ranking
Konsorcjum Stali (KS) has taken top spot in the Polish Union of Steel Distributors (PUDS) ranking of top-performing Polish steel distributors in 2015, monitored by Kallanish. However, last year’s winner, Grupa Polska Stal, and six-time winner ThyssenKrupp Energostal did not submit for the 2015 edition.
KS shipped the most steel of any distributor last year at 557,000 tonnes – up from 489,000t in 2014 – and reported the highest revenue at PLN 1.13 billion ($296.9 milion). However, it came only fifth in terms of net profit with PLN 18.75m.
KS has three reinforcement fabrication plants with a combined capacity of 15,000 tonnes/month. It also has two steel structures plants and a coil service centre. This is in addition to 13 sales offices around Poland.
Cognor took second spot in terms of tonnage and revenue with 525,000t and PLN 1.1 billion respectively, having not appeared in the 2014 edition. It was 19th in profit terms with a net loss of PLN 13.95m.
Bowim remained third in terms of tonnage with 384,000t, up from 326,000t a year earlier, and was fifth in revenue terms with PLN 808.6m. It was 16th in terms of profit with PLN 451,000.
BUDMAT Bogdan Wiecek remained in fourth in terms of tonnage with 275,000t, coming fourth also in revenue with PLN 844.83m and third in profit with PLN 25.85m.
Stalprofil remained in fifth in terms of tonnage with 199,000t, coming seventh in revenue with PLN 568.72m and 18th in profit with a net loss of PLN 10.05m.
Other notable mentions are new entrant Balex Metal which came first in profit terms with PLN 41.8m, but sixth and 19th in revenue and tonnage with PLN 660.13m and 75,000t respectively. Grupa Pruszynski came second and third in profit and revenue with PLN 31.3m and PLN 991m respectively, despite being sixth in tonnage with 191,000t.
