Kardemir cuts domestic rebar, billet prices
Turkish long steelmaker Kardemir has reduced its prices of rebar and billet for the domestic market ahead of the upcoming slowdown in market activity around the Eid al-Adha holiday, Kallanish notes.
The integrated steelmaker is offering its 12-32mm diameter rebar and 12-22mm round bar at TRY 1,165/tonne ($394/t) and TRY 1,182/t respectively as from 2 September, down by TRY 13/t over the previous price list. On 18 August Kardemir opened its sales book with an TRY 8/t increase in prices to TRY 1,178/t and TRY 1,195/t respectively.
Kardemir has also reduced its billet and bloom prices each by $10/t to $330-345/t and $448/t respectively.
Prices of profiles have been cut to €345-415/t ($385-463) from €350-460/t previously, and equal angles prices have been lowered by €5/t to €380-465/t.
Kardemir's prices are all ex-works and exclude VAT.
Turkish deep-sea scrap import bookings have slowed again after a host of bookings were made in the week beginning 22 August. Only one scrap booking was heard last week from Canada with an indicative price of $227/t cfr Turkey for HMS 80:20 1&2.
Turkish mills' rebar export quotes have declined by $5/t to $375-380/t fob in the past week on a lack of demand.
