Jvshun Steel plans to build new EAF
China’s Jvshun Iron & Steel plans to construct a new 45-tonne electric arc furnace (EAF). The project is still in the process of environmental assessment, Kallanish notes.
The steelmaker plans to increase steel capacity by 220,000 tonnes/year by commissioning the project. The construction site is in Boluo county in Huizhou city of Guangdong province.
Jvshun Iron & Steel mainly produces steel ingots, rolled steel products and forgings. At the end of 2016, the Huizhou government had closed down several zombie steelmakers to improve efficiency. This included the closure of competitor Xiaoheng Casting Plant, which was equipped with two 50-t EAFs and one continuous caster.
