Italian scrap market goes quiet amid production cuts
Italian scrap prices are expected to move down in June by €20-30/tonne ($21-32) compared to May, during which values have already plummeted by some €50/t since the start of the month.
The entire long steel sector is carrying out production cuts in an effort to balance demand and supply. Temporary layoffs are being implemented at some steelmakers’ facilities and one rebar producer is said to be looking at a seven-week stoppage for revamping purposes…
