Italian scrap values dip in May
Italian scrap prices are falling in May by €5-10/tonne ($5.5-11.1/t) month-on-month, market participants tell Kallanish.
Despite mills’ scrap yards being considerably emptier after the long Spring holiday period, demand for ferrous scrap remains both uncertain and patchy. Mills are looking for material but volumes being sourced are not high, Kallanish hears.
New arisings grade E8 is at €280-285/t for the mixed quality and at €10/t more for the higher grade. E3 demolition grade scrap is being bought at €245/t delivered and at €250-255/t delivered for E1 grade. E40 is also expected to reach €285/t delivered on average in Italy, sources suggest.
