Iranian billet slides in tender, further drop anticipated
Major electric arc furnace-route billet and slab tenders were concluded in Iran on Wednesday last week, Kallanish learns.
According to an insider, the billet tender was awarded at $600-610/tonne fob Iran, for immediate shipment, while slab concluded at $640-650/t fob. This was $35-50/t lower than the mill's expectations, as low-priced Russian billet offers to main Iranian markets in Southeast Asia made bidders more bearish.
