Hurricane Ida hits US rig count
The US rig count registered a double-digit drop in the week ended 3 September, while Canada posted a minor gain, according to energy services company Baker Hughes.
The US rig count fell by 11 net rigs to 497, up 241 from the equivalent weekly count in 2020.
Rigs geared for oil fell by 16, while rigs geared for gas rose by five. During the week, Hurricane Ida struck the Louisiana coastline and impacted some offshore drilling, Kallanish notes.
