Horsehead exits bankruptcy restructuring
US zinc producer and electric arc furnace dust recycler Horsehead has emerged from its chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganisation, Kallanish reports.
The company’s reorganisation plan virtually eliminated the company’s debt and puts the company is a position to restart its relatively new 155,000 short ton/year zinc plant in Mooresboro, North Carolina.
“With the bankruptcy process behind us, we can now turn our full attention to our operations and strategic plans, including finalizing the plans to repair and restart our Mooresboro, North Carolina, facility to provide high quality zinc to the North American market,” says ceo James Hensler.
The company entered bankruptcy protection in February.
