Hebei to invest $87 billion on transport infrastructure
Hebei's provincial government has published a comprehensive transportation plan for the thirteenth five-year plan period (2016-2020). By the end of 2020 it aims to complete CNY 600 billion ($675 billion) in investment on transportation infrastructure construction, including CNY 160 billion for railways and CNY 345 billion for highway construction.
Kallanish calculates the estimated steel demand could reach around 6-8 million tonnes of finished steel.
According to the plan Hebei aims to make sure each city within the province has high-speed train and airport connections. The establishment of Xiong’an New Economic Zone outside of Beijing is expected to drive further investment, which could see these figures increase sharply.
