ArcelorMittal successfully tests green hydrogen in Canada
ArcelorMittal Long Products Canada (AMLPC) has conducted its first test of green hydrogen for the steelmaking process, Kallanish learns.
ArcelorMittal’s plant in Contrecoeur, Quebec, replaced 6.8% of the natural gas used in direct-reduced iron production for a 24-hour period. The company says that it saw measurable reductions in carbon waste. Green hydrogen is being purchased by a third party vendor, and the cost of the material was not disclosed.
