Global pig iron output falls, despite August uptick
Global pig iron output increased slightly in August, but the eight-month total remained down on-year, Kallanish learns from worldsteel data.
Total pig iron produced in August amounted to 106.3 million tonnes, up 1.4% on-month but down 3.8% on-year, while January-August remained down 5.3% on-year at 865.2mt. This is despite all regions, except for the EU, increasing production in August.
