French stainless scrap prices rise
Stainless steel scrap prices in France are increasing by €50/tonne ($60) on average versus last month, depending on grade. This is due to costly raw materials. Market participants tell Kallanish they see improved demand from local and export buyers.
This month, contracts for grade 316 are hovering at €1,580-1,590/t ex-works. Meanwhile, grade 304 is now fetching €1,100-1,110/t ex-works. Buyers add between €20-30/t for transport, sources say.
Nickel prices for cash buyers were at $16,030/t on 16 November. They fell slightly to $15,937/t on 3 December, Kallanish notes.
