French scrap prices remain stable
French mills are now confirming December values for January scrap contracts and decreasing their purchasing prices for the lowest grades by only €5/tonne ($5.7).
As steelmakers are resuming production after the Christmas holiday break, demand is rather dynamic, with scrap values stable. This is the case despite the uncertainty in finished flat and long products sales, for which the market remains quiet.
