French rebar prices stabilise
French domestic rebar prices are stable compared to the beginning of the month and they are expected to remain at the current levels in July, sources tell Kallanish.
Demand from the construction sector had been stable and at a good level while distributors expect July’s sales to be as high as in June.
French domestic rebar prices are now at an average €270-280/tonne ($314-326/t) base delivered. Prices were at €265-270/t base ex-works in May, Kallanish notes. The domestic transaction price in June so far is €510-520/t ex-works including extras, sources say.
Meanwhile, domestic merchant bar sales volumes are low and the market remains difficult and competitive with no change from last month. The current average base price in France for merchant bar is €140/t delivered, or an average €540-550/t ex-works in transactions, sources reveal.
