End users struggle to buy billet in Tangshan
Many rerollers in Tangshan cannot afford billet due to poor rolling margins. Purchases by traders for end-month delivery are supporting current billet prices, Kallanish understands.
Kallanish assessed Tangshan billet spot prices on Monday afternoon at CNY 3,530/tonne ($487.3/t), up CNY 50/t on-week. The October rebar contract on the Shanghai Futures Exchange (SHFE) closed at CNY 3,670/t on Monday, up CNY 54/t on-week.
