Costlier energy supports Spanish rebar, scrap also up
Spanish scrap prices rose during the last week. Meanwhile, rebar values remain strong after steelmakers passed a €50/t ($58) increase on new contracts due to surging energy costs in November.
Domestic steelmakers were more immersed in implementing production adjustments at their plants due to high energy prices than in reacting to price movement seen in the main European markets, Kallanish notes.
